Counter Logic Gaming Interview
Before the Season II Playoffs begin, look into the minds of one of the best teams in the game. I asked bigfatlp for a bit of time to answer a few curiosities.
How was the transition from playing on your normal CLG lineup to playing with teammates whose main teams are your rivals [in reference to the USA and Canada lineups in WCG Korea 2011]?
The chemistry between Elementz and Chaox and OddOne and myself is not the best it can be yet. And we’re still adjusting to who to listen to for calls more.
Was there any sort of practice done with all 5 members of the USA and Canada teams, respectively?
Yes there is. We played in the first CLG ran/hosted tournament and won (beat Dignitas for the finals).
Besides the presence of tournaments of other games at WCG, what did you think of Busan, Korea?
It was fine, but no where to really shop at… other than the world’s largest (and most expensive) department store
In Korea, did you all hang out between events as CLG, or as your country teams?
Mix of CLG / TSM. And with my buddy Lilballz (Taiwan team player).
What was the most important thing you have learned, gameplay-wise, from WCG Korea?
Trust is very important during a game!
Describe your biggest difficulties in dealing with Poland and France during WCG.
We were not playing well as a team and gave away many free advantages.
Were there any international teams at WCG that stood out in your minds based on their performance?
CDE did really good. China was supposed to be good… but they did get food poisoning and did not perform at their best.
Do you have any favorite memories from WCG this year, whether it be something about League of Legends or an occurrence outside of the game?
Lots of food! Tons of kimchi.
The NESL Premier Playoffs are coming up this weekend, with the list of teams and seeds here: http://www.nationalesl.com/us/lol/5on5/news/179316/. You’re up against YMN7 in the first round. Is there any concern about the seeding and teams overall?
Not really, all the teams that are good are in this. Should be a very intense playoff!
Describe, in brief, the main reason for your losses to v8 and Curse during the IEM Kiev qualifiers. Is there any room for greater improvement and what will the team do to achieve it?
Some players made a few extra crucial mistakes that led to free Barons. I think that’s the biggest reason we lose games as CLG at the moment.
When the IEM Season Championship in Hannover commences, will there be anything you are looking forward to?
Great city and prize pool! Almost all the top teams will be there. I'm looking forward to meeting them all again.
What teams at the moment, in your personal opinion, are the biggest and relatively most difficult threats in tournaments in general?
I cant really say, many teams are very good right now. Really fierce competition :O
Describe, in brief, the team roster changes concerning Elementz and Doublelift.
Chauster knows how to play aggressive with non-aggressive supports. so we needed a AD player.
Who calls the shots in game and outside of game, respectively?
Saint calls as many as he can in game, but everyone still calls sometimes.
Outside of the game everyone does whatever they want.
Has there been discussion about a team house, managers, etc. in mimicry of other top teams, or are things generally going to stay the way they have always been?
A team house could be happening in the future, but not anytime soon.
Manager, probably not.
You guys seem to consistently have a steady number of loyal viewers. Is there anything that fans can do to help the team more?
Keep supporting! And don't change loyalty after a loss in a scrim LOL!
Do you feel as if this team has enough practice together?
Not enough, but we try to get as much scrims going and make everyone attend.
Does streaming the amount that your team currently does affect the team’s ability to practice for tournaments?
Nope. We have scheduled practice times.
Any last shoutouts or statements in closing this interview?
We stronk. :D
